PALAZZO TALÌA
Where every design detail is a memory
THE PALAZZO
A HISTORY IN THE HEART OF ROME
This was once the dwelling place of Thalia, the muse of comedy – light, elegant, ironic, graceful.
Today she has come back to put the art of hospitality on stage where
Rome is at its most authentic, poised between Baroque splendor and the
common people’s spirit. And she promises the magic of a
once-in-a-lifetime experience.

____________
PIAZZA DI SPAGNA
Distance from Palazzo Talìa: 450 m
The triumph of Baroque urban scenery. The dramatic staircase that opens up like a butterfly from the church of Trinità dei Monti to via Condotti, the fountain built by both Berninis – father and son – the column of the Immaculate Conception, palaces and boutiques from leading international brands – everything is dazzling. Plus a few lesser-known gems, like the Keats-Shelley Memorial House and Babington’s tea room, open since the late 1800s.
___________
VILLA BORGHESE
Distance from Palazzo Talìa: 1,4 km
Once known as the gardens of Lucullus, the site became the property of the Borghese family in the 16th century. Bernini’s patron Cardinal Scipione turned it into a garden of delights. A beautiful urban park, it provides a green haven in the heart of Rome amid statues and maritime pine trees, green lawns and Italian gardens. Among the many wonders is Galleria Borghese, a fascinating museum with works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Canova and Bernini.
___________
Trevi Fountain / Acqua Virgo
Distance from Palazzo Talìa: 400 m
Built in 1731 for Pope Clement XII, it’s one of the symbols of Rome. Its ancient history is connected to the Aqueduct of the Aqua Virgo. Commissioned by Augustus, it’s still functioning and still runs through Palazzo Talìa today. Set against the backdrop of Palazzo Poli, the theme of the imposing fountain complex is the sea. The statue of Oceanus towers above rocks, animals and water deities. Its fame is also connected to the most famous scene in the film La dolce vita by Fellini, where Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni wade into the fountain. Tradition has it that if you throw a coin into the fountain, you will surely return to Rome.
