Salto Chico, El Chaltén, between Chile & Argentina
Whether departing from Chile or from Argentina, on this travesía we will explore the untouched geography and nature of the Patagonia. Traveling across its plains, forests, rivers, glaciers and mountainous formations, we will experience the diversity and uniqueness of the flora and fauna, which includes close to 500 animal species and thousands of plant species. On the Argentine side, the travesía will be based at El Chaltén, in Los Glaciares National Park.

In general terms, Patagonia is the area of South America that is south of the 40° parallel - this ice zone, which Chile and Argentina share, is the largest after the Ice Fields of the Arctic. However, it is important to make a few distinctions. The land South of the Strait of Magellan is known collectively as Tierra del Fuego. The travesia offered by explora entails traveling the area that stretches from the Strait of Magellan to the Southern Ice Field, and the occidental argentinian zone between latitudes 51°30‘ and 48°.

✈ Upon arrival at the airport in Santiago, Chile, you must take a connecting flight to the city of Punta Arenas, which takes around four hours. The staff will be there to meet you and take you to Hotel Salto Chico, a trip of about 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Maximum 6 persons from October to April with length of stay of 9 days/8 nights.

Begin or end crossing in Chile or Argentina.

Whether it is the start or end point of the El Chalten travel journey, we will use Hotel Salto Chico, the only lodge located in the heart of the Torres del Paine Park, as a base for our explorations.
